Workers can be assigned to a Work Location in several different ways (Managing Work Locations). This article describes how they can be assigned by a pattern.
Firstly, you need to create one or more Location Pattern Groups using the standard configuration processes.
You also need some Work Locations set up: Managing Work Locations.
Then create a Location Pattern Definition.
Name | Mandatory and unique (within your Department) |
Description | |
Active From | Date from which this definition will be active |
Duration | Number of weeks and days this definition is active for. |
Active To | Date on which this definition ceases to be operational. (You can enter both the Duration and the Active To. The other is automatically calculated.) |
Offset | This is to ensure that the Active From date lines up with the correct day in the pattern. |
Roster Model | Click the Edit button to create/edit this. |
The example above has a Location Pattern Definition that lasts for over 20 years and will assign Workers to Location lP on Mondays and Tuesdays, Location lM on Wednesdays and Thursdays, Location lO on Fridays and Saturdays, and NOT assign any Work Location on Sundays.
To create the actual pattern to be used, click the "Edit" button next to the "Roster Model" label.
- A Term is just a text pattern. Here, "A" represents a Location Pattern Group. 1 represents a week number, and p, m, and o represent locations to applied by the pattern.
- In the section marked 2, this is where the code representing the Location Pattern Group ("A") is mapped to an actual Location Pattern Group.
- Here in section 3, is where the Location codes are mapped to actual Work Locations.
The pattern defined in the Term could go for multiple weeks but in this case is simply a 1 week pattern that repeats each week.
Now we have a Location Pattern Definition created. But for it to be associated with any Workers, use the Operator Movement to assign a default Location Pattern Group to the desired Workers. All Workers in the same Location Pattern Group will follow the same pattern and be assigned to the same Work Location on the same days.
